I feel like I am forever singing the praises of Samantha Young (see my romance review archives for proof). But honestly, the woman writes phenomenal romances. While I love Samantha’s books, the On Dublin Street series has always been my holy grail – hello, Liv and Nate – but I have to say that War of Hearts is tied with ODS now (sorry, Hart’s). It had everything you’ve come to love from a Young romance, but with paranormal characters and high stakes.
I love a good paranormal romance, but I often find I get bored because they get a little cheesy for me – I still love them though! War of Hearts was definitely no cheese and all action, mystery, and hot romance!
War of Hearts is a standalone romance that follows Thea Quinn and Conall MacLennan.
Thea is a 25 year old woman who has been plagued with strange abilities her whole life. She’s on the run from a dark figure in her past, and has no idea what she is. But somehow there is always a trail of bodies left in her wake. Conall is the Alpha and Chief of the last werewolf pack in Scotland, Clan MacLennan. To save his sister from a rare disease, Conall makes a deal to use his rare tracking gift to hunt down the accused murderess, Thea. But things are not always as they seem and soon Thea and Conall find themselves embroiled in a paranormal war. They must figure out who they can trust- even if they can trust each other.
Thea and Conall’s chemistry was OFF THE CHARTS. From the witty banter, to the physical brawls, those two were a joy to read. But more than their chemistry, I found myself so emotionally invested in these two. They’re loyal, compassionate people, who are only trying to protect their loved ones and the innocent. Plus Thea is a TOTAL badass and I love seeing strong women kicking ass and taking names.
