YA Fantasy Challenge: Check in Two.

YA Fantasy

I bet y’all thought I forgot.

Of course I didn’t! I’ve been making my way through the list, but I’m trying to go slower so Raquel can catch up. I’m pretty far ahead because I have a lot more free time than Raquel.

So far I’ve read:

  • Assassin’s Blade
  • Queen of Shadows
  • Snow Like Ashes and Ice Like Fire
  • The Wrath and the Dawn
  • Crimson Bound
  • Cinder, Scarlet, and Cress. (The Lunar Chronicles)

Which leaves only two books on the challenge: The Orphan Queen and Girl of Fire and Thorns.

My thoughts? I’ve loved every book I’ve read thus far.  Obviously Assassin’s Blade and Queen of Shadows were favorites because, hello, Sarah J Maas slays. However I fell in love with The Wrath and the Dawn and The Lunar Chronicles. I can’t say too many good things about TWATD. That book has some amazing lines. I won’t put any for risks of spoilers but just know they are beautiful.

I liked Crimson Bound but it wasn’t a favorite. The end however is what made the book for me. I was really impressed at how well it was done. In a way, it redeemed the book as a whole for me.

Okay, so when I first started Snow Like Ashes I wasn’t in love. I liked it well enough, but I wasn’t like give me more! I borrowed Raquel’s ARC of Ice Like Fire and that is where I fell in love with the series. Meira grows up a lot, and I loved Cerdiwin’s character. Seriously. She is amazing. I also loved the development of Meira and Mather. I’m not going to go into any details because Ice Like Fire just released so I don’t want to even hint at spoilers. Just know that after ILF I am firmly in the Mather camp. I love his character so much. So. Much.

I’m really excited for The Orphan Queen and Girl of Fire and Thorns so Raquel hurry please!
