The universe is conspiring against Ava Breevort. As if flying back to Phoenix to bury a childhood friend wasn’t hell enough, a cloud of volcanic ash traveling from overseas delayed her flight back home to Boston. Her last ditch attempt to salvage the trip was thwarted by an arrogant Scotsman, Caleb Scott, who steals a first class seat out from under her. Then over the course of their journey home, their antagonism somehow lands them in bed for the steamiest layover Ava’s ever had. And that’s all it was–until Caleb shows up on her doorstep.

When pure chance pulls Ava back into Caleb’s orbit, he proposes they enjoy their physical connection while he’s stranded in Boston. Ava agrees, knowing her heart’s in no danger since a) she barely likes Caleb and b) his existence in her life is temporary. Not long thereafter Ava realizes she’s made a terrible error because as it turns out Caleb Scott isn’t quite so unlikeable after all. When his stay in Boston becomes permanent, Ava must decide whether to fight her feelings for him or give into them. But even if she does decide to risk her heart on Caleb, there is no guarantee her stubborn Scot will want to risk his heart on her….

Enemies to Lovers? HELL YEAH.  Samantha Young? SIGN ME UP.  I was continuously checking my kindle for this baby to hit my shelves.  When it did I POUNCED.  You all know I am a huge fangirl for Samantha Young books, but I’ll be honest, I was worried there for a little while.  When I first started this book I kind of sorta hated Caleb.  I was worried that I was going to hate him and not enjoy the book, but in true Young fashion, she made me fall in love with our broken hero.

Caleb Scott, a ridiculously attractive, boor of a man.  I was blown away at just how rude he was in the beginning.  I would pause reading, thinking, Dear Lord, where is this man’s manners?? But I kept reading, holding out hope that Caleb would redeem himself.  And he did.

Ava Breevort.  She’s kind, determined, and constantly underestimated and judged for her beauty.  I loved Ava.  From her childish reactions to Caleb’s rudeness, to how she couldn’t help but be nice to him, to her fierce protectiveness of Harper.  Honestly, Ava and Harper’s relationship was one of my favorite aspects of the story.

Fight or Flight was addicting, maddening, and sexy as hell.  I am never disappointed in Samantha Young romances, and Fight or Flight did break the pattern.  What I love about Young’s romances, are how the characters grow from each other, and demand what they deserve. Watching characters, grow, and flourish, even without their romantic partners, are what make Young’s stories so addicting.  Fight or Flight made me feel like I was just discovering Samantha Young’s romances again, and only solidified my status as a fangirl for life.
