So with my first week in Scotland coming to a close I figured I’d share it with y’all. My title came from a Florence + the Machine song. It’s my adventure song, I guess. It reminds me to be thankful of what I am experiencing and just How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful world is. So, with my new adventure I want to keep this in mind: And every city was a gift. And every skyline was like a kiss upon the lips
Saturday was a mix of arriving in Glasgow, finding my flat, and getting to know people in my building. I was lucky and met a group of girls from all over the world! On Sunday evening we went walking around the city center to get a feel of how campus was laid out and just see the city in general.
Monday night I saw Florence and the Machine for the first time with Kate and Marie. In Glasgow. And it was amazing. She was absolutely magical. To be able to experience that was so incredible. It will forever be one of my favorite memories.
The rest of the week has been a chaotic mix of seeing as much of the city as possible before school starts next week. We went to a diner called Steak, Cattle, and Roll, which was an American themed diner. I got the burger I had been craving. It was funny to find an American diner, I wasn’t expecting it. The walk home was gorgeous! It’s not too far from our building but we got to pass the cathedral and other really old buildings.
On Friday the weather was perfect so we went to the Glasgow Green and the People’s Palace. Unfortunately, Saturday was a bit overcast and chilly but it didn’t stop us from visiting Kelvingrove Museum and Park, as well as the University of Glasgow.
[Side note: I finally figured out how to insert a gallery instead of single photos so bear with me until I can get things looking nice!]
I was blown away at how beautiful the University of Glasgow is. It felt like I was in Hogwarts. Seriously. We took some silly photos as well as just some scenery. The west side of the city is lovely. I love how you can go down this little alley and find a cute collection of cafés and bars pubs.
This week has definitely been filled with excitement. I am in love with Glasgow. It’s beautiful and everyone is so nice. I can’t wait to get out of the city though. I want to see the rest of Scotland! Unfortunately, school uni will be starting soon. Although my schedule is a little messed up currently, I do have a class on Wednesday. I’m glad today is my lazy day. I can’t wait to curl up with Shadow and Bone and start my Carranam Read Along with Melanie!
Sláinte, darling!
Really enjoy tagging along on your adventure! I love reading and seeing what you are doing. Enjoy yourself!
