Elle Kennedy’s Briar U #2 novel, The Risk is live! Check out my ARC review below!
THE RISK – ELLE KENNEDY
Series: Briar U #2
Publication Date: 02 | 18 | 19
Publisher: Elle Kennedy, Inc.
Genre: New Adult, Romance, Sports Romance
Rating: 5/5 stars
Everyone says I’m a bad girl. They’re only partly right—I don’t let fear rule me, and I certainly don’t care what people think. But I draw the line at sleeping with the enemy. As the daughter of Briar’s head hockey coach, I’d be vilified if I hooked up with a player from a rival team.
And that’s who Jake Connelly is. Harvard’s star forward is arrogant, annoying, and too attractive for his own good. But fate is cruel—I require his help to secure a much-coveted internship, and the sexy jerk isn’t making it easy for me.
I need Connelly to be my fake boyfriend.
For every fake date…he wants a real one.
Which means this bad girl is in big trouble. Nothing good can come from sneaking around with Jake Connelly. My father would kill me, my friends will revolt, and my post-college career is on the line. But while it’s getting harder and harder to resist Jake’s oozing sex appeal and cocky grin, I refuse to fall for him.
That’s the one risk I’m not willing to take.
I think I literally squealed when The Risk hit my Kindle. I loved Brenna in The Chase, so naturally I was extremely excited to see that The Risk was about her. I can’t lie and say for a brief second I hoped that the love interest was Hollis, because who doesn’t love the big goober, but Jake was absolutely perfect.
The Risk is full of Elle Kennedy’s signature sass and wit, along with the steamy romance you’ve come to expect, and love from Elle.
Brenna Jensen is the daughter of Briar U’s hockey coach. Jake Connelly is the team captain of Harvard, and Briar U’s rival. She needs Jake’s help, and that help includes a fake date. Except Jake has one condition: for every fake date, he gets a real one.
Their chemistry is off the charts. From their interactions in The Chase we should have been prepared. The Risk takes it to an eleven with Brenna and Jake’s interactions. They are filled with innuendos and steamy banter, and sexual tension you could cut with a knife.
I adored Brenna’s character. She is unapologetically badass. She was fierce and sassy. She took no punches from anyone, and dished out a few of her own. Brenna has to overcome a few obstacles in her career, and to repair the rift in the relationship with her dad.
I loved Jake, for all of his cockiness, he was still a sweetheart. Except when I wanted to smack him in the head.
Fans of Elle will love The Risk. If you’re looking for a solid, sexy New Adult, Contemporary, or Sports romance, The Risk is a perfect choice. Forbidden love? Sexy hockey players? Strong, fierce heroines? If you’re looking for any of these, then pick up The Risk. You can thank me later!
